Her Other Life – Day Eighteen

Today I wrote 2,869/5K. I’m at 12,966/25K for the week and 48,350/65K for the novel.

I have four scenes left to write, so I’m not sure that this book will actually end up being 65K. Probably more like 60K.

My goal for the weekend is to write 5K. I have two long chapters and two short chapters left to write. 5K should cover the first long chapter.

I aim to be done with the first draft next Wednesday. That will give me six days to fix typos and weird sentences and give people last names where I’ve written, NEEDS A LAST NAME. Ha! Little stuff like that – before I send the manuscript to the editor.

I rarely write multiple drafts unless I discover mega plot holes that need to be fixed throughout. I’m one of those writers who usually needs to add words to their books instead of making cuts, so I’m sure I’ll find a couple of places where I can lengthen a scene or insert a new one.

I’m feeling positive about this experience and even though Her Other Life isn’t completely like all the Story Toolkit worksheets I filled out, I think spending the time to do the worksheets was a good idea.

When I’ve gotten stuck I was familiar enough with the characters to pretty easily come up with new ideas.

I know it’s not done yet. 😛 But I’m very close!!
