My Remedy update and photo shoot outtakes

Today was an awesome writing day! I bought a new e-book yesterday on outlining – Take Off Your Pants!: Outline Your Books for Faster, Better Writing by Libbie Hawker – and re-outlined the nearly all the way written except for that one part…and that other part My Remedy. Something was off with the pacing, and this book helped me fix it! I’m feeling confident that it will be completely finished and ready for beta readers by April.

In the meantime, I thought I’d show you all some of the photos from the shoot I did last September for the My Remedy cover. I was having a difficult time finding photos of athletic couples who still looked like normal people. (All the stock photo models were weirdly shiny and posed.) One day at the gym, I realized that this women in my class looked a lot like Izzy, and was her age! Better yet, her boyfriend was also a crossfitter. Thus, Hayley and Nick became Izzy and Duncan. 🙂

Now, the characters may resemble them, but in appearance only. Izzy and Duncan have not got their shit together by a long shot, and that’s not true at all of Hayley and Nick. (I keep having flashes of mortification over everyone at my gym reading My Remedy and freaking out that I’m soiling the reputations of two good people – especially Hayley’s dad!)

Here’s the final My Remedy cover:

And here are some other contenders from the shoot. I’m confident I chose the best photo for the job, but I sure did love some of these others!

Hayley and Nick were good sports! I took over 100 photos of them in action – and this was all before a WOD!
