WIP (Work In Process) Challenge
Author Chanda Hahn has challenged me to post the first sentences of the first THREE chapters of my WIP. Since I’m editing Frayed right now, that’s what you’re getting!
No one stops me. Elle doesn’t say, “Penny, it’s okay, I know you didn’t mean it.” She doesn’t grab for my arm and pull me to her in one of her smothering hugs, or even meet my eye as I run past her. My cousin Elle’s eyes aren’t on me until I’m at the stairwell, when they join everyone else in the dormitory hall at boring holes in the back of my head.
I reach the intersection of Ocean Park and Lincoln Boulevard and come to a halt with one foot on the curb and one in the crosswalk. My feet back me up onto the sidewalk and force me to turn south down Lincoln.
Kai is straight pissing me off and I want to knock him down on the sidewalk and kiss his mouth clean off his face. Bitch it up, Black. What the world needs now is less of your hormonal urges.
There ya go! A little alienation, a little Retro action, and a little Penny wanting to kill and make-out with a guy at the same time.
